At West Over Woods Construction, we deliver transparent pricing, direct service from the owner, and 25 years of specialized skill to every remodel, addition, and fine finish. We are the smarter way to build in the Mid-Willamette Valley. ## Rooted in the Willamette Valley. Built on Craftsmanship. West Over Woods Construction is a certified, family-run business serving the greater Willamette Valley and the Northern Coast. Our foundation isn't in a corporate office. It's in 25 years of hands-on work, mastering the details of custom flooring, trim, and construction. We offer the precision of a high-end firm with the accountability and transparency of a local partner. ## Our Values: Delivering Value on Your Home We are driven by a simple promise: to treat your house as the castle it is and deliver an artistic masterpiece. This commitment is supported by three pillars: ### Direct & Accountable Management We maintain the highest standards of construction quality and communication. Owner Mick Westover is your direct point of contact, ensuring a lean, well-run project that maintains quality while avoiding the cost-inflating bureaucracy of larger design + build firms. ### Build Smarter, Waste Less We are committed to responsible building practices. We prioritize donating usable materials back to our community rather than sending them to a landfill, minimizing waste and maximizing the positive impact of your project. ### The Master's Eye for Detail We are focused on the fine finishes that separate a good build from an exceptional one. We use proven, modern methods and a craftsman's precision to ensure every detail, from the trim to the floors, is flawless and enduring. ## Mick's Guiding Principles > "Your house is your castle, and we will treat it as such. We go into each project with this in mind, and strive to make each project come out as an artistic masterpiece that reflects our hard work and commitment to upholding our values." (Mick Westover) ## What Clients Say - "They came and installed new hardwood flooring. We had a few special designs for our parquet floors! They turned out amazing and beautiful. Really well done! Most people think a quality renovation means choosing between high-end design-build firms or risking it with an unreliable handyman. There's a better way. At West Over Woods Construction, we deliver the craftsmanship you deserve at a price that makes sense, by cutting out the unnecessary overhead and markups, not the corners. ## 25 Years of Craft, Not Just Construction My name is Mickey Westover, and I started in the trades as a drywall and hardwood flooring specialist. For over two decades I've been on the tools, focused on the finishing details that change how a space feels, from custom trim to hardwood floors. Those early years on high-end homes shaped how I think about the work. A floor that lands right, trim that sits flush, drywall that disappears into the wall, these are not the glamorous parts of a build, but they are the parts people notice when they walk into a finished room. That is where I learned to put my attention. That focus on finish work is still the part of a project I care most about. Cabinetry that fits the wall it sits against, a hardwood floor that holds up for thirty years instead of five, a piece of crown molding that meets the corner cleanly. The finish is where you see whether the rest of the job was done right. ## The Journey: From a 16-year-old apprentice to an owner-operator in Corvallis I was apprenticed by my dad starting when I was 16. He had been in construction his whole career, and I spent my teenage years bouncing between Southern Oregon and California, working alongside him. A lot of that work was on big commercial jobs, including 60-story buildings, where I learned drywall, taping, and texture from the inside out. It was a good place to start, because there is no faking your way through that kind of work. The seams either look right when the lights go on or they do not. In my later teenage years I shifted into hardwood floors, and for the next 10 to 12 years I did very little else. Just hardwood. Install, sand, finish, repair, refinish, color matching, the whole arc of it, on a lot of high-end homes. That stretch is where my eye for finish work really came from. From there I started expanding into finish carpentry. Custom trim, hardwood stairs, banisters and railings, crown molding. The fancier interior work, the part that makes a home feel built rather than assembled. By the time my family and I moved up to Corvallis, that range had grown into full residential remodels, additions, kitchens, and baths. I bought my first house really young. It was a complete fixer-upper, and I remodeled it top to bottom over years of nights and weekends. When the time was right I sold it, and that sale gave me the boost to start buying and developing other properties. Right before COVID I was working on getting my developer license, and now I am picking that thread back up. ## A contractor's eye, with hands-on history across the trades Most of the credibility I have when I am evaluating a subcontractor's work comes from having done a lot of that work myself, in my own home, with my own permits. I rewired the house I lived in, switching it from a fuse box to a modern breaker panel, with help from my electrician friend. I rerouted all of the plumbing in that same house. I have personally done drywall, hardwood floors, finish carpentry, tile, and full kitchen and bath remodels. That breadth is the reason we keep so much of a project in house. On most builds I am the one doing the finish work, the floors, and the trim. Where we do bring in a sub for electrical or plumbing, I know what the work should look like before they show up. ## Education - Bachelor of Science, Construction Engineering Management, Oregon State University - Associate of Science, Engineering focus, community college in Southern Oregon ## Credentials & Certifications - Oregon Licensed Residential Contractor, CCB# 241096, in good standing with the Oregon Construction Contractors Board - LEED Certified - More than a dozen OSHA safety certifications covering job-site safety, fall protection, electrical safety, and related disciplines - Member, Corvallis Chamber of Commerce - Member, Corvallis Business Network ## The West Over Woods Difference We built our company to offer a better option for homeowners who demand master craftsmanship but want to avoid the inflated costs of large design-build firms.
