Our Process
Our Drywall Process
- 1
Assessment & Prep
We assess the scope, protect floors and adjacent finishes, and prepare the space so drywall work stays contained and your home stays clean.
- 2
Hanging & Fastening
We hang sheets square to studs with correct fastener spacing, staggering seams and cutting clean openings around outlets, fixtures, and corners.
- 3
Taping & Mudding
We tape every seam, apply three coats of mud, and feather each transition so joints disappear entirely under paint.
- 4
Sanding & Finish
We sand every surface smooth, check it with raking light, and leave behind a flawless canvas ready for primer and paint.
FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does drywall installation take in a single room? +
A standard 12 by 14 bedroom usually takes 2 to 3 days: one day for hanging and tape, one for mud and first coat, one for sanding and second coat. Bigger rooms or full additions add proportional time. Texture and primer follow after that.
Can you match existing texture patterns? +
Yes. Knock-down, orange peel, smooth, and skip-trowel textures are all matchable when done by someone with experience. The older the home, the harder the match; some 1960s textures take a few practice boards to dial in.
Do you handle drywall repair too? +
Yes. Patch work, door-frame repair, water-damage replacement, and texture matching are all part of what we do. Small repairs are often a same-day visit; larger repairs follow the standard install timeline.
Will there be a lot of dust? +
Drywall sanding does produce dust. We use dust containment systems, plastic barriers, and HEPA-filtered vacuums to keep it contained to the work area. Most of our clients keep using the rest of the home throughout the project.
Can you do sound-dampening drywall? +
Yes. For walls between bedrooms, between a home office and the rest of the house, or shared walls in additions, we install sound-dampening drywall (5/8 inch with Green Glue, double-layer, or QuietRock) per the spec for your situation.
How does drywall pricing work? +
Drywall is usually priced by the square foot of finished wall and ceiling area, plus extras for texture, primer, repair complexity, and access difficulty. [MICK CONFIRM: typical per-sq-ft range for hang-and-finish in 2026]. We provide a written estimate after seeing the space.
